"Black Lake Legacy is a poetry collection that emphasizes the essence of the Labor Movement as well as a cry for social justice. Through these literary pieces, readers will realize that labor dedicates itself to the social, economic, political and moral issues that affect the welfare of the nation, its workers and the interdependency of ou national society as a whole."
Bruce Kingery was first hired into a UAW shop (Delco Radio Division) in 1940. After a hiatus during the World War II years, when he served in the army, he returned to the shop where he became an activist and leader in his local. In 1964, he was appointed to the UAW International Education Department, where he served until his retirement in 1985.
During his tenure at the UAW Education Department, Kingery says, he helped many post-secondary institutions establish their labor studies programs. Now he hopes that some Labor Studies programs may consider using his book in their courses.
